I read every book there is about soap making at least three times before I had the courage to make any soap. Actually I did not gather up the courage to make soap until I met someone who was a soap maker. She actually invited me to here house and once I saw her making soap, I realized I could make soap for myself.

In this article I will be talking about making goat milk soap, but the process is the same for any soap that you make. So even if you want to make something that is not a milk soap, this process will work for you too. As we walk through it together you will see how simple it is.

There are 3 different ways to make goat milk soap. The first way will be with goat milk powder, but you can also use can goat milk and fresh goat milk. To get started you going to need oats, a blender, a scale and a sifter. You will also need the goat milk powder, fragrance, a stainless steel pot and a plastic measuring container. Never mix in anything other than stainless steel or glass.

A huge tapered edge glass container, a couple of thermometers, and a few scooping utensils for getting the oils into the mixing container. A stick blender will make the process faster and also the more important vinegar, this will be necessary if you have any spills it will help neutralize the lye that you are working with which is caustic. It can make a chemical burn if it spills on your skin, so the vinegar is used to neutralize that situation.

One of the unanswered questions that I had when I started making soap was how many bars of soap is the recipe that I have in my hands going to make? Well it all depends on the mold you will be using. Some molds allow you to make a huge block of soap that you can then cut into smaller pieces.

Goat milk, unlike any other type of milk, has great medicinal and therapeutic characteristics and has been known to aid/cure skin problems, assist respiratory and digestive processes in infants and promote all around good nutrition in humans.

The Differences between Goat Milk to Cow Milk

Goat milk as a food source is naturally homogenized unlike cow milk, due to its smooth texture, which makes it easy to absorb in the body and digest. Goat milk contains more vitamins A and B than cow milk although both types of milk have the same levels of vitamins C, D, Iron, Protein and Fat. Goat milk contains less lactose than cow milk.

Digestive, Respiratory and other Medicinal Properties

The molecular structure in the fatty acid and protein in goat milk is shorter, unlike cow milk globules, which are big and separate on the surface rendering them hard to digest. Goat milk molecules break down faster and are easier on the human digestive system. This is extremely beneficial to infants who have symptoms of diarrhea, constipation, vomiting and even colic. Goat milk has been known to treat allergies in both infants and adults. In some cases, goat milk has also been found aiding respiratory difficulties in infants with Cystic Fibrosis and children with epilepsy. Goat milk can help in minimizing cholesterol deposits in the arteries as well as improve mineralization of the skeleton, balancing mineral and hemoglobin levels in the blood and increase blood serum vitamins.

Skin

Goat milk is probably most well known for its therapeutic qualities to the skin. It moisturizes and balances the skin PH. This is because goat milk has the same level of acidity as our skin; hence, it prevents harmful bacteria from forming. Goat milk can greatly aid in healing cases of acne, eczema and dermatitis.

Summary

By regularly using goat milk in our soap, we assist our skin in retaining health and vitality. As the PH level is balanced, the skin is continually nourished and moisturized.

Goat milk is applied to the soap making process by adding fresh goat milk or goat milk in powder-form during the cold process, or a goat milk glycerin base during the melt and pour process. Goat milk has remarkable qualities, which we can all benefit from.

Handmade soap products are an excellent alternative to the mass produced alternatives you’ll find in the skin product section of your local supermarket or pharmacy, and goat milk soap is one of the best natural products for helping prevent and treat acne.

When you’re looking for a good goat milk soap for acne or other skin problems, make sure that it does not contain artificial coloring or preservatives and that it does contain 100% goat milk. Making your own goat milk soap for acne treatment is a good option, to ensure that you are only using the most natural ingredients.

So why is goat milk soap good for acne, as well as eczema and dermatitis? Research has shown that goat milk soap, when properly made, has a pH level close to that of your own skin and that it contains vitamins and other skin nourishing nutrients. The reason that it is beneficial in the treatment of acne is that the goat milk soap contains an acidic property which helps neutralize the bacteria while still allowing your skin to retain its moisture.

Goat milk soap for acne treatment can be handmade at home, using the cold process of soap making. This involves mixing lye and water with fat or oil, and adding this to the cold goat milk. For acne problems, using oils – palm oil, olive oil and coconut oil – in the soap will give it a moisturizing feeling. Once the soap mixture has been blended to trace, you can add fragrance oils or essential oils for scenting the goat milk soap. The soap is then poured into a mold to let it set, and after it has been cut into bars it is left to be cured for around 3 weeks.

Another way to make your own goat milk soap is to use the melt and pour method, where you buy the glycerin soap base instead of having to start from scratch with the lye solution. The soap base is melted and the goat milk is added, again with scented oils for fragrance.

As well as using goat milk soap for acne prevention or treatment, it can also be used to soothe other skin problems and is great for using on sensitive skin. Easy recipes for goat milk soap for acne, either using the cold process or melt and pour methods, are widely available and come in all shapes and quantities. If you are going to buy goat milk soap for acne problems, look for a genuine homemade soap and make sure it doesn’t have any unwanted additives.

Marie Ackland – Soap making was originally a hobby of mine that gave me great pleasure, theres something quite satisfying about creating from scratch a beautifully scented bar of soap.

It then turned into a full time passion, creating wonderful soap for family and friends to enjoy. When a friend suggested I take some along to a local craft fair, which I did and from that day on I never looked back. I now have a great soap business which makes a healthy profit and gives me great satisfaction.

Interested in making goats milk soap using the melt and pour method? Well, you can buy goats milk melt and pour soap bases to make your own goat milk hand made soap. The advantage of making and using your own soap is you know exactly whats in it. Goats milk is considered to be a soothing and moisturizing soap making ingredient.

First, decide on a recipe using a goats milk melt and pour base. What kind of molds are you going to use? Do you want to make shaped soap, like seashells or flowers, or plain bars of soap?

Once youve decided on the recipe and molds, find a goats milk melt and pour soap base. It should be easy to find a soap supply site selling this on Google. Just type in goats milk melt and pour soap base. Once youve found your goats milk melt and pour soap base (check the ingredients it contains first) you can start looking for soap fragrances and colors, if you need any. The site where you found the goats milk melt and pour soap base may sell them.

Once youve decided on your ingredients and have the necessary equipment (including safety equipment) ready, its time to start making your goats milk soap.

Of course, its really important to follow your soap making recipe so you know exactly when to add each ingredient but basically to make melt and pour soap you melt the soap in a suitable double boiler or microwave safe bowl or jug, then add the soap coloring and fragrance and pour it into molds and leave it to set. Once its set you can unmold it. Unmold your soap by gently popping it out of the mold. If it sticks, try running some water over the base of the mold and then attempt to pop it out of the mold again. Once its unmolded you can use it right away!

Once youve made your first bar of goat’s milk soap, you may never want to use non-goats milk soap again. When I make goats milk soap for my friends and family, they cant stop raving about it! So why not get started on making your own goats milk soap today?
